General Information

The Pitt Technical Institute Foundation Inc. was established in April 1973 to receive gifts and secure external resources for the college.  The Foundation’s name changed in 1980 to reflect the college’s name change.  The PCC Foundation may receive gifts of cash, securities, deferred gifts, property, equipment, in-kind gifts, and materials.  These gifts are used to provide funds for scholarships, educational activities, and educational materials that can assist the students and/or enhance the services of Pitt Community College, Greenville NC.

The PCC Foundation Board includes local community leaders who volunteer to direct and support the activities of the foundation. Several college administrators, two college trustees, and the chair of the PCC Alumni Board serve as ex officio members of the PCC Foundation Board.

During the past decade, the PCC Foundation has significantly increased its activities and assets in an effort to provide much more support to Pitt Community College’s mission.  For example, more than 500 students received scholarships and/or special educational assistance funds from the PCC Foundation during the last two years.  The foundation provided over $792,000 in scholarships and educational activities last year.  The foundation has also provided over $9 million in the past few years to support capital construction on campus.

The PCC Foundation recognizes students’ academic achievements and provides support for many students who need financial assistance to pursue their career goals.  Now more than ever, the PCC Foundation is implementing methods to ensure donors that their contributions for PCC scholarships, educational activities, and capital projects are good investments.

Generous contributions from individuals, alumni, businesses, and organizations in Eastern North Carolina have been essential to the success of Pitt Community College and the PCC Foundation. The College’s state budget provides resources to sustain only a basic level of operations.  Contributors’ support helps provide the extra measure of excellence in programs, student support, and facilities.

Much of the PCC Foundation’s success can be attributed to the leadership and support of its board of directors, donors, and over 250 volunteers including college employees and students who support the foundation’s events and activities.  We sincerely appreciate the work and support that each of these groups provides for our College.
