Meet Andrea Smith, a PCC Associate in General Education student receiving a PCC Foundation Scholarship.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE PITT COMMUNITY COLLEGE?

Pitt Community College’s student:teacher ratio is 20:1, which enforces their mission statement to: “educate and empower people for success.” Because of this, I knew Pitt was the absolute best choice for me to pursue my career goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Now, being that I am a third-year student at Pitt I can truly say that I love this college and all it has afforded me financially, mentally, and educationally. I know I made the correct decision with Pitt Community College!

WHAT INFLUENCED YOUR AREA OF STUDY?

My profound passion for helping others is what fuels my desire to study nursing. As a nurse I know that I will have to care for my patients as well as their family members. It shall be my duty to help those in discomfort, ensure safety, and reduce pain. Because of my bubbly personality, I am confident that I will be able to build and/or develop long-lasting relationships with my patients and their families. My motto is: “No patient nor family member will be left behind!!”

WHAT ARE YOUR EDUCATIONAL AND/OR CAREER GOALS?

Upon completion of my Associate Degree to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) I will further my education by obtaining my Master of Science in Nursing Degree (MSN) or becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). My end career goal, however, is to become an Anesthesiologist.

WHAT DOES RECEIVING THIS SCHOLARSHIP MEAN TO YOU?

I would like to extend my attitude of gratitude to show how thankful and grateful I am to be receiving this scholarship! Being awarded this scholarship is a gift and a blessing that I will not take for granted! Because of this tremendous blessing, I will not have to concern myself with how to pay for college. Rather, I can now dedicate all of my attention to maintaining a high A average in all of my courses. I would like to now thank you again for the pristine opportunity to receive this scholarship.
