“You can do it, and I’m here to tell you you can do it.”
WINTERVILLE—For Industrial Systems Technology (IST) major Perry White, the road to earning his degree this semester was not an easy one.
Perry had been in and out of prison since he was 16 years old until 2018, when he was released after a 10-year stint. After his release, his wife encouraged him to enroll at Pitt Community College, where he fell in love with the (IST) program.
Not only is Perry graduating with a full-time job offer from Weyerhaeuser (Grifton), where he interned during the 2020 Spring Semester, but he’s graduating with a 3.95 GPA.
He hopes that his story can inspire others to seek an education and better their lives, no matter how rough their journey has been.
We’re so proud to have students like Perry here at PCC. Great job, Bulldog!
